How to use Nioxin System Kits
Step 1: Cleanse the hair
The shampoo helps to remove any sebum that’s clogging the hair follicles along with any fatty acids or environmental residues from the scalp and the hair. First things first, before applying the shampoo, you need to wet the hair thoroughly. Apply and gently massage the cleanser into the wet hair and scalp. Once all the hair is lathered, wait for one minute before rinsing thoroughly.
Step 2: Condition the hair for hydration
The second step in the system kit is the conditioner. You may usually apply conditioner just on the mid-lengths and ends, but we recommend to apply the Scalp + Hair Conditioner on the scalp as well. This is to control the moisture balance and provide hair resilience. Leave the conditioner in for one to three minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
Step 3: Apply leave in treatment for fuller looking hair
The scalp and hair treatment is created to give even thicker and fuller hair through its formula. It’s a leave-in treatment, so you just need to distribute it evenly over the clean scalp, and let it work its magic.
What Nioxin system should I use?
When you’re selecting which Nioxin system to use, it’s important to take your hair needs into account. Each 3-part system kit is designed to target different thinning hair needs. They’re created to address two main factors:
Hair type: natural/non-coloured OR dry, damaged, coloured hair (bleached, permed, chemically straightened)
Thinning progression (light thinning vs. progressed thinning)
System kits for natural hair
What is the difference between Nioxin systems 1 and 2? System Kit 1 is designed for natural, non-coloured hair with light thinning. It is formulated to amplify texture and protect the hair against breakage. It also refreshes the scalp and delivers thicker, fuller hair. System Kit 2 is formulated for natural, non-coloured hair with progressed thinning. It delivers thicker, fuller hair, while protecting every hair strand against damage. Contains UV protection ingredients.
System kits for dry, damaged, coloured hair
What is the difference between Nioxin systems 3 and 4? System Kit 3 is designed for coloured hair with light thinning. It is formulated to remove follicle-clogging sebum, fatty acids and environmental residue while amplifying hair texture, providing moisture balance and protecting your colour. System Kit 4 is formulated for coloured hair with progressed thinning. It delivers thicker, fuller hair by removing follicle-clogging sebum, fatty acids and environmental residue, while providing moisture balance and colour protection.
How do I know which kit to use if I previously used System Kits 5 and 6?
We recently transitioned from 6 kits to 4 to make it even easier to navigate which kit will help you meet your hair goals. If you previously used System Kit 5, we recommend using System Kit 3. If you recently used System Kit 6, we recommend using System Kit 2. Not sure which Nioxin system to use? See below:
For natural, untreated hair with light thinning, we recommend System Kit 1.
For natural, untreated hair with progressed thinning, we recommend System Kit 2.
For damaged, dry, or coloured treated hair with light thinning, we recommend System Kit 3.
For damaged, dry, or colour treated hair with progressed thinning, we recommend System Kit 4.
How many times a week should you use the kits? And when will I see results?
We recommend using the complete system at least 3 times a week for visible results in 30 days. In the first few weeks of use, you might notice more shedding than usual. This is because the product is leaning out clogged hair follicles that were not allowing the hair to fall as usual. A new hair will be able to grow in its place when the follicle is clean.
